PARENT CHAPERONE REMINDERS:

Visiting the DIA will be a unique and extraordinary art museum experience. In order for your school to fully enjoy the DIA, we strongly encourage you to read and enforce our unique chaperoning guidelines explained below.

▪ Remember to NO backpacks or purse size backpacks.

▪ Groups should be 10 students or less and at least 1 chaperone.

▪ Remind your group to keep their hands to themselves, and Do Not Touch the Art – everyone should enjoy the art with their eyes.

▪ Refrain from electronic distractions, e.g. cellphone use, headphones etc. for long periods of time. This may prohibit you from actively monitoring your group’s behavior.

▪ Require your group to use “walking feet” while exploring the museum.

▪ Reduce your group’s noise level. If you hear loud voices within your group, remind your group that they should be using indoor/library voices.

▪ Refrain from using Kresge Court or our Café DIA as lounging areas. Please only utilize those areas if everyone is purchasing items.

▪ Record your experience with photos, but please make sure the flash is turned off.

It is the responsibility of the chaperone to enforce all of the aforementioned guidelines. If you do not, our DIA Protection Services team may approach you during your visit to reinforce this information. If our Protection Services team has to approach anyone from your school more than once regarding

disruptive/disorderly behavior, you may be asked to wait in the group entrance until your group’s visit is done.
