About Us
Best Life Ever School Support, Inc.
Our Origin Story
While we had operated effectively through the years as a small band of moms planning field trips for our kids, times have changed DRASTICALLY. In recent years, many families have learned the advantages and customization that home-education offers. Our quaint group has grown into a small army presenting us with several challenges and many opportunities.
Challenge meets Opportunity
1
One Mom meets Her Tribe
As one mom planned a series of fun activities for her kids and their friends, the limitations quickly became obvious. We wanted group discounts! We wanted to meet new people! We wanted to plan bigger, school-sized events! Committed to a common goal, many of our moms came together in one Facebook group to create the Michigan JW Homeschoolers -- a group that post-covid grew to 10x its pre-pandemic inception.
2
Liability meets Incorporation
Our Facebook group grew and event attendance went from 20 people to over 200 people. It was super exciting! However, new challenges emerged. How could we limit personal liability when creating regular events for such a large number of kids? If audited, would the IRS see the money collected for Field Trip payment as undeclared income? Many of our families run small businesses and understood these real risks. The answer was Nonprofit Incorporation.
Best Life Ever School Support, Inc was born!
3
Tax meets Charitable Status
Several zealous mommas undertook the research and paperwork to become a Nonprofit. Doors began to open with businesses excited to support our kids' educational experiences, additional discounts were discussed and fundraising plans were underway. But those companies wanted to see our IRS declaration letter and many companies required 501(c)3 status. So Best Life Ever School Support, Inc. grew into a 501(c) 3 Qualified Charity.
